Kodak Tri-X 400 iso film with my Canon Rebel 2000. Processed the film myself and created this print in the darkroom. Lemme tell ya... this one wasn't easy.
I did this outside when it was dark and took my friend Louis out to a field so little light as possible would interfere with the frame. Then I set up my tripod and had my shutter set to be open for 15 seconds. I had Louis make the "depressed" face and I took a flashlight and "painted" him in from above to get those shadows. Then I turned off the light, ran to the other side and had him make the "manic" face and lightpainted him in from below. In the end, the camera caught all of that on the film.
I'm not so much of a photographer so even though you explained, it still doesn't make an awful lot of sense, but i kinda understand how it was possible to take. Cool idea anyways, well done
This photograph is beautiful. I can't believe you did this in a darkroom, rather than digital manipulation. That's admirable, I'm sure it was extremely difficult to achieve!
I created a similar piece in a different medium. I'd appreciate some feedback from a gifted artist like you!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
