Watercolor, gouache, and ink on a silver gelatin print on tea stained 6"x16" watercolor paper.

The technique:

First, I had a shoot to get the perfect pose (thanks Brittany!) Then I tea stain the paper. Then I paint liquid photo emulsion onto the paper and print the image in the darkroom. After that, I scrape and scumble the emulsion to create texture (while it's still wet). I then stained half of the piece with diluted concentrated watercolor to get the aqua color. Then I painted the watercolor, then the gouache, and added the ink! It's a very involved process but I love it.

Daily DeviationA magnificent blend of both realism and graphic design, Someone Else's Sunset is an impressive piece! The muted palette in combination with the color scheme, really creates a gritty dreamscape that is very dynamic and aesthetically pleasing. =greeneyedsiren's recent shift in gears is a magnificent turn for her art, and I'm excited to see much more coming from the direction. Really like the format/composition on this one. Those red birds rock, too. :) Love how a lot of these pieces have a layered scene on a stage feel to them.
